What is Disciple Bible Outreach?
Transforming Lives in Prisons and Pews
DISCIPLE Bible Outreach Ministries of North Carolina (DBOM) is a collaborative ministry established by the Western North Carolina and North Carolina Conferences of the United Methodist Church for the promotion and development of DISCIPLE Bible Study ministries in local churches and other outreach settings in the state of North Carolina. DISCIPLE Bible Outreach Ministries, as an incorporated ministry, is related in faith to the two annual conferences.
Four ministries comprise DISCIPLE Bible Outreach Ministries:
- Local Church DISCIPLE Ministry (Disciple Bible Study for small membership, rural and ethnic minority) [ learn more ]
- DISCIPLE Prison Ministry (Disciple Bible Study in prisons primarily at this time) [ learn more ]
- Rings of Fellowship (a Bible Study ministry developed by Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries in partnership with the NC Dept. of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for use in working with young people within the Youth Development Centers of this state) [ learn more ]

DISCIPLE Bible Outreach Ministry is managed by:
- Working as a liaison between institutional officials (prison administrators, chaplains etc.), pastors, and volunteers
- Providing volunteer recruitment, training and ongoing supervision
- Providing financial resources for the DISCIPLE Bible Outreach ministry including leadership training and study materials (manuals, videos and study Bibles.
- Working with the NC Department of Corrections on behalf of the Annual Conferences.
